Ans. I am fine Alhamdulillah. Thanks
Q2. When did you start practicing?
Ans. In Nov 2006, almost 5 years to date, at a renowned private Hospital of Lahore, Akram Medical complex with Dr. Javed Akram
Q3. How do you take physical therapy as a profession?
And. After MBBS, Physiotherapy is the only field in which one can deal medically from head to toe.
Q4. Better therapists? Males or females?
Ans. I think males are better than female in majority of cases in Pakistan, their clinical skills ,dealing and satisfaction rate is much better than female. but there are a number of female Physiotherapists which are very well in field such as Madam Umol Bunin ,Madam Fariha Shah ,Madam Shumaila Ehsan etc
Q5. Who do you idealize in your field and why?
Ans. Sir Muhammad Bin Afsar Jan of Khyber Medical University. He is the best.
Q6. Do you have any interests in politics?
Ans. I am very much interested in politics and international relations! Because quite a number of my patients have political background, Ministers, MNA's, MPA's...
Q7. Whom would you vote in next elections?
Ans. PML (N) was my ideal party, but the policies of Isolation of PML(N) and disowner ship of key leaders like Javed Hashmi and many others factors changed my mind .
Q8. Is there any impact of Pakistani Politics on Medical field in general or Physical Therapy in particular?
Yes ,there is great role of Politics in Medical profession. The tenure of Former Chief Minister Ch.Pervais Elahi was golden time for whole Medical field including Physiotherapy.
He started rescue 1122, which was a great achievement and service to mankind. Free medicine in whole Punjab, free surgeries even free bypass surgeries which cost about 3 lac. Largest no of vacancies were created of physiotherapist in his tenure which exist till now.
Q9. What is the best thing about physiotherapy?
Ans. It relieves pain quickly and safely and foremost the wellbeing of patients.
Q10. Private practice or Government house ship?
Ans. Government House Ship is best if pay package is up to the mark. Otherwise private practice.
Q11. What is opinion about hospital environment you are serving in? Any other setup you like to work in?
I am working at Mayo hospital which is 2400 bedded Hospital with very less no of Physiotherapist as compared to the number needed, so there are a number of things to be improved. As far as other setup is concerned I would just work in Pakistan especially at Agha Khan Hospital if I got an opportunity.
Q12. Any teacher you like the most?
Ans. Sir Muhammad Bin Afsar Jan - best teacher.
Q13. Favorite subject?
Ans. Therapeutic Exercises.
Q14. Do you teach? Where, if yes?
Yes, teaching is my passion ,I teaches and I love it ,I read once a quotation
"often a mediocre student is a good teacher" after that I never fight for good marks rather than focusing on topics and books thoroughly to be good teacher for future .
I began teaching right from 8th class, when I was in 8th class I used to teach primary class students,when I was in 10th I used to teach under Metric, when I was in F.Sc I used to teach metric students, when I was in BSPT I used to teach F.Sc and Entry test students, and when I was in M.Phil I used to teaches BSPT students and still teaching at College of Physiotherapy KEMU, Mayo hospital, Lahore.
Q15. You aimed for Physiotherapy/It was by luck?
Ans. It was by chance. Particularly for two reasons 1st was very common for most of Physiotherapists that I was unable to get admission in MBBS. 2ndly Amer Saeed bhai was my front door neighbor he was very well establish and well earning Physiotherapist, when I was in F.Sc so it was inspiring for me a lot.
Q16. What personalities are you inspired from?
Ans. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), and all his companions (R.A).
Q17. Any quote you like the most and remember?
Ans. "Never play with your own emotions."
Q18. Do you believe in Horoscope? Your star?
Ans. No, I don't believe in it I consider it Shirk. I am Gemini.
Q19. Are you married?
Ans. Single, Call it luckily or unluckily.
Q20. When do you plan to get married?
Ans. Let see….! hopefully soon…! INSHALLAH! Pray for it.
Q21. Would you like any of your children to pursue Physiotherapy as a career line?
Ans. Insha-Allah I will ,I wish if I could transfer my all knowledge and skills to my own child and I would love to see him the best Physiotherapist of the world.
Q22. How many siblings do you have?
Ans. I have one elder brother and two younger sisters
Q23. What do they do? Anybody in Physiotherapy?
Ans. Brother is telecom engineer and one sister is a Medical doctor, recently she has done her MBBS from FJMC, other one is doing M.Phil in Human development from Home economic College Gulberg.
My two cousins are in Physiotherapy doing there BSPT.
Q24. Profession becomes passion or passion becomes profession?
Ans. It varies from person to person according to circumstances.
Q25. If you were not a physiotherapist, what might have you been either?
Ans. A CSP officer perhaps.
Q26. What do you think where Pakistan stands in physical therapy as an essential part of health care system?
Ans. In Pakistan our profession is far behind in health care system but soon will be integral part of it .INSHALLAH
Q27. Do you think that research is important in medical field? What is its role in Physiotherapy?
Ans. Yes, research is very important in all medical fields. It is the base of progress.
Q28. Any research you did? What that was all about and what did you find?
Ans. Yes, I did one in BSPT and also in M.Phil. In BSPT I worked on correlation of different factor of low back pain and in M.Phil I worked on two treatment plan for the management of frozen shoulder in diabetic patients.
Q29. Share your opinion about Physiotherapy; is it a demanding profession or paying?
Ans. In Pakistan initially it was paying profession but now it is demanding.
Q30. Any literary tastes?
Ans. No time and no taste buds for literature, which is my negative point.
Q31. Which writers or poets you read the most?
I just read the books written by patients. But I read Islamic books a lot.
Q32. What kind of patients/problems/diseases you encounter frequently in your practice?
Ans. Neck, back, knee and shoulder pains.
Q33. Where else have you served apart from Mayo Hospital and College of Physiotherapy?
Ans. I worked for 3 years at Akram Medical Complex initially. Nowadays, I am practicing at Latif Hospital in Johar town and Halcyon Medicare on M. M. Alam Road.
Q34. Which you liked the most?
Ans. Akram Medical Complex of course. I enjoyed a lot working there.
Q35. Any memorable incident or patient during your practice till date?
Ans. Yes there is one. When I got admission in M.Phil I along with my other class fellows was terminated from Job of Mayo Hospital by the then M.S Mayo Hospital. I still remember the statement on our termination letters and will remember forever.
"Your name has been reflected in the selected candidates of M. Phil Physiotherapy in King Edward Medical University, Lahore. So you hereby terminated"
It was the most conflicting situation and joyful and sorrowful at the same time.
But I was proud, thinking that I was terminated just due to my knowledge up-gradation.
Q36. Pakistani people are more oriented towards MBBS & BDS but less towards Physiotherapy & Allied Health Sciences, why?
Ans. Due to lack of knowledge and awareness.
Q37. Are you satisfied with the current educational standards set forth for training of future doctors? How can we improve them?
Ans. Yes, but there is always the space for betterment.
Q38. What is the main issue or need of physiotherapists in Pakistan?
Ans. Attention of government.
Q39. How can we improve standards of health care system in Pakistan?
Ans. By increasing the health budget from 0.58%(present budget) to 4-5 %.
Q40. Tell us about your achievements?
Ans. Some, I think worth mentioning, include that I cleared my BSPT in first attempt, I treated 1st lady of Pakistan Mrs. Fouzia Gillani shortly after my graduation, I was appointed in Mayo Hospital right after that and a month later, I got admission in 1st batch of M.Phil Physiotherapy at K.E.M.U. Most recently I have completed my M.Phil and I am the first M.Phil Physiotherapist in Pakistan furthermore it is first M.Phil of K.E.M.U as well. Latest is that I have been selected as Information Secretary of P.P.T.A. This all is great honor for me.
Q41. Whose support you think backed you the most in your career Mother or Father?
Ans. Our family was actually Saudi based ,my parents shifted there in 1979. My mother's role has been very vital in all of my achievements, I along with mother shifted to Pakistan in 1992 just for the sake of my studies. Father remained in Saudia till his death 2005. So I think its all due to my mother, but all the financial and moral support was from my beloved father who always remained very kind to me.
Q42. Anything you wanted to say to your parents but never said that?
Ans. I love them so much that they can't imagine, especially to my late father whom I was never able to tell that how much I loved him.
Q43. Any credits you want to pay to someone?
Ans. To my mother and father for their strong moral and financial support.
Q44. Any dire wish?
Ans. A lot of learning and earning. Big home, big car
Q45. Any regrets regarding your life or profession?
Ans. Allhamdulillah! No regrets at all.
Q46. How did you hear about Student Focus?
Ans. As you know I am serving at C.P.T so my students Sheraz and Asbar discussed the concept with me and I encouraged them. Its like my own!
Q47. Have you read our last three editions online?
Ans. Yes, I read them they were too good.
Q48. What is your opinion about Student Focus?
Ans. It should be spread to all physiotherapy institutes of Pakistan!
Q49. Any suggestion you want to give for the betterment of Student focus?
Ans. Students of all institutes of Physiotherapy of Pakistan should be taken on board of student focus.
Q50. Any message you want to give to the doctors/physiotherapists and to general readers?
Ans. Be sincere to your profession and stay committed and faithful to your country.
