A nation’s progress, prosperity is
measured by a scale called” knowledge”. The Prophet (PBUH) said: "Seeking
knowledge is an obligation upon every Muslim". The best of human being (PBUH)
also revealed to us that Allah said to man kind. “Propagate if u knows only one
verse”.
Knowledge and preach go hand in hand. Preaching
is the obligation of every Muslim and for this a person should have knowledge. In
our society, preachers do preach and what they are preaching is really
appreciable but as they come towards knowledge, calling people to seek
knowledge and specifying that knowledge to be religious only, I have strict
objection. I want to share an incident of my life when preachers came to our
hostel and told us about praying to Allah, offering Prayer regularly, Fasting and doing other good deeds which is really good.
But when they said that you are seeking here only materialistic knowledge I was
astonished. They were saying in the sense that we are doing sin by getting
knowledge of this world but I want them to remind that Allah himself said many times
in the best of books” Al Quran’ summary of this is; ‘Explore what is in heavens
and earth’.
Human being is the best of creation on
what basis we have been ranked ’ashraful makhlukaat’? That’s knowledge. Hazrat
Adam(A.S) became superior to angels on the basis of universal knowledge.
Our Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad(S.A.W)
said: “A man who left to acquire
knowledge is in the way of Allah, unless he returns home”.
So acquiring worldly knowledge is also a
part of Islam. Our Islamic preachers should emphasize, encourage our students in
their concerning field to get knowledge,
so that we can regain our glory as
Muslim Ummah. \
